BE AN ADVOCATE!
City council will vote on a street vacation permit for the project late
in the summer so development can begin. If the coalition has
their way, the city would deny the permit or place unrealistic
contingencies on the developers. If the City does not permit the
street vacation, then the site could be developed as a massive
industrial office complex. We think that would make everyone
worse off. We need your support!
Here's what you can do to help:
1.) Sign up for our listserve at Go Dearborn Street
on Yahoo groups. This list serve will act as a place where
supports can have a dialog about the project, stay informed of
upcoming events and exchange information. Join Go Dearborn
Street listserve now >>
2.) Send this website link to neighbors, community
groups and friends. Allow others to be informed with
balanced and accurate information.
3.) Write letters to the media. Several guest articles have
appeared in the Seattle Times and Seattle PI that have
misrepresented the project or distorted the surrounding facts
(such as labor and environmental issues). The public needs to
know there are people who value the project and see its positives!
4.) Write to City Council. Let city council know you want
them to grant the street vacation permit, and that you want the
project in your community. List out the positives.
